Hello, I am Yuka and I have lived in Canada for 2 years where I had the opportunity to improve my English and communicate with many people who have different backgrounds compared to me. I have recently joined Japan Switch after working at a school that teaches English to children with native English speakers. While living in Canada, I have faced many difficulties learning a second language. From my experience, I understand the struggles of learning a new language and so I would like to help students who are intensively studying Japanese at Japan Switch.
Why did you decide to work at Japan Switch Gotanda?
I joined Japan Switch after seeing many positive reviews on Facebook. So I wanted to join this language school and use my English skills to support students. I also thought that I could meet many people who came from different countries to learn Japanese and are interested in the Japanese culture. Japan Switch was the best place for me to grow and improve myself, so I decided to go for it and apply.
What would you like foreigners to know about Japan?
I would like foreigners to visit many different prefectures. I am originally from Nagasaki and I personally think that the countryside has many interesting foods and different traditional customs in comparison to the city. Also, many prefectures have unique and interesting dialects!
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are knitting and crocheting. I am actually attempting to get a knitting instructor certification, so that I can introduce to people the beauty of knitting. Plus it is a relaxing hobby for the weekend.
What do you love about working here?
I love working here because I can see the progression of the students’ Japanese level improving little by little every single lesson. I feel happy when our students look forward to their next lesson, and gain more confidence in communicating in Japanese.
Overall experience so far?
I really like the work I do here at Japan Switch! I am glad that I saw the Facebook reviews about Japan Switch otherwise I wouldn’t have applied for the job. My overall experience is good. If we get more students to enroll, I will be very happy so I can have conversations with them.
